PEN HISTORY
Cape Horn is widely considered to be the most southerly point of South America, and marks the northern boundary of the Drake Passage; for centuries it has been regarded as a major milestone by which sailing ships carrying trade goods around the world marked their passage. The waters around the cape are particularly hazardous, owing to strong winds, large waves, strong currents and icebergs. These dangers have made Cape Horn notorious as a sailors' graveyard. The hand painted body shows a sailboat at the will of the raging elements and treacherous waves. The lid of the pen deserves special attention, decorated with rope and incrusted with inserts of finest teak wood.
